Marian Hossa will not be suspended and will play in game 6 after a controversial hit as he was called for a boarding major on Nashville defenseman Hamhuis. The 2 were chasing a loose puck heading behind the Preds net, a move on the puck by Hossa sent Hamhuis into the boards. Hamhuis was stunned but was not injured on the play as he skated to his bench after everything was said and done. ESPNChicago predicted yesterday that Hossa will be suspended after the hit and Chicago would have to go into game 6 without their veteran forward.

NHL Senior Vice President of Hockey Operations Colin Campbell said this about the decision, "This play is distinguishable from recent incidents by a number of factors, including the degree of contact involved; the fact that the consequences of the play do not appear to be as severe; that this was a hockey play involving a race for the puck; that Mr. Hossa is not a repeat offender; and that the call of a major penalty by the referee was significant and appropriate."

Marian Hossa hasn't put many points on the board in the series, however, he has been a large defensive source for a hurting Chicago Defense. Blackhawks head into Nashville for game 6 tomorrow leading the series 3-2. A win will send Chicago into round 2 and a large win against the feared strong trap defense of Nashville.
